China Business – Danish company recalls drugs on Chinese market

BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) — Danish pharmaceutical group LEO Pharma is recalling all remaining stock of its Sodium Fusidate for intravenous injection from the Chinese market because glass particles have been identified in some vials, said China’s drug watchdog Tuesday.

The move was part of LEO Pharma’s global recall of Sodium Fusidate, which is mainly used for bacterial infections, the State Food and Drug Administration said in a report on its website.

The company was recalling the products as a precautionary measure because glass particles have been identified in some vials of the powder, the report said.

The recall in China involved 12 batches of the product, it said.

There was so far no reports of any health problems caused by the mishap, the administration said. And the company has entrusted a Shanghai-based company to carry out the recall.

Leo Pharma, which makes medicines for dermatological problems and critical care, has employees in 54 countries and its products are sold in more than 100 countries.
